Werner Schmid Joins Two International Climate Action Initiatives
27.05.2025In 2024, Werner Schmid GmbH participated for the first time in the Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) and the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) to underscore the company’s commitment to sustainability and climate protection. Both initiatives are globally recognized platforms that help companies measure and transparently communicate their environmental impact.
The Carbon Disclosure Project (CDP) provides companies and cities with a platform where they can disclose their environmental impacts in the areas of climate change, water, and forest conservation. Through our participation in the CDP, we aim not only to better understand the climate impacts of our business activities, but also to measure our progress toward sustainability goals and compare it with global best practices. In our first participation, we achieved the highest possible rating available to a small and medium-sized enterprise (SME).
At the same time, we joined the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), which encourages companies to set science-based climate targets that are consistent with the goals of the Paris Agreement. Through the SBTi, we are committed to implementing emission-reduction measures based on the latest scientific findings and to regularly reviewing our targets. In doing so, we benefit from a simplified target validation process for SMEs. Our goal is to reduce Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions by 42% by 2030 compared to the base year of 2023.

For Werner Schmid, this participation marks an important step on our path toward a more sustainable future. We not only set ambitious climate goals but also want to ensure that our progress can be transparently reported and measured. Our participation in CDP and SBTi demonstrates our commitment to a climate-friendly economy and our sense of responsibility to actively combat climate change.
